Good morning, Brilliant Leader Reader:

Welcome to this Week's Dose of Operational Strategy.

Last year, I changed the name of my newsletter from Administrative Insights to The Administrative Architect. I purchased the domain and moved forward with the new name.

But for the first time, I did not complete the full search that I normally do. I am not sure why I did not do it, because I am usually very intentional about doing my due diligence.

A few weeks ago, a friend was searching for my newsletter on LinkedIn when another person’s company popped up. Of course, I immediately started researching. Sure enough, the person’s business domain was theadminarchitect.com, but the name of her company was The Administrative Architect.

She had not purchased the www.theadministrativearchitect.com domain I purchased, but she was already operating under the business name.

I went into a frenzy. I was thinking, “Oh my gosh, I have to change this.” At first, it really bothered me because I try my best to research, verify, and complete my due diligence before making business decisions.

But here is the thing.

Things like this happen in business all the time, and I am thankful that this situation involved my newsletter and not something that would have created a larger issue for my business.

Once I settled down, I took the time to research, think through my options, and determine what made the most sense. I decided to return to the name I had before: Administrative Insights by Your Brilliant Transitions

Honestly, I am not sure whether I was supposed to change the newsletter name or if I just liked it and changed it because it sounded good. So, this week’s newsletter is not only about the name change. It is about doing your due diligence and understanding that mistakes and unexpected situations can happen to anyone.

Here are a few things I want you to remember.

Always Do Your Due Diligence

Take the time to conduct as much research as possible. Search the name in different ways. Play with the wording. Search Google, LinkedIn, social media platforms, business directories, domain databases, and trademark databases. Do not assume that because a domain is available, the name is available. They are not the same thing.

Do Not Beat Yourself Up

When something happens, and you realize you missed something, acknowledge it. Yes, you may be disappointed. Yes, you may be upset. But do not stay there. Sit down, assess the situation, and determine what is best for you and your business. Then correct it.

Understand That It Happens

Things happen in business. You can be experienced. You can be careful. You can have a strong process in place, and still miss something. The goal is not to pretend that mistakes never happen. The goal is to know how to respond when they do.

Take Your Time

Research as much as possible before making a final decision. Do not rush because you are excited about the name, the idea, the program, the workshop, or the product. Take your time. Look everywhere and then look again.

Use AI to Support Your Research

Today, we have tools that can help us conduct deeper research. You can use ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Manus and ask: Is anyone currently using this name? Is this name trademarked? Are there similar business names? Could this name create confusion? Are there any concerns I should be aware of? What should I research before moving forward with this name?

These tools can help you identify information you may not have found on your own. They can also give you recommendations on what to research next. You still need to verify the information and complete the appropriate legal and trademark searches, but AI can help you. This week, I wanted to share the mistake I made, explain how I corrected it, and let you know about the newsletter name change.

Sometimes we get it wrong. Sometimes we miss a step. We acknowledge it, correct it, and keep moving.

Next week, we will return to our regular business newsletters, administrative strategies, and practical tips.

Until next week.

Much Love, Stacey

AI For Brilliant Leaders

Guess what? I'm doing it again!

I'm excited to share that I'm currently writing my second e-book, ChatGPT for Brilliant Leaders, with a target release date of August 31st.

This guide is designed to help business owners and leaders move beyond basic prompts and learn how to use ChatGPT more strategically to save time, improve decision-making, strengthen operations, and work more efficiently. Until then, I thought I'd start sharing a few ChatGPT tips with you each week.

Today's ChatGPT Tip
ChatGPT recently introduced two simple but very useful features.

📌 Pin Your Most-Used Chats

Do you find yourself searching for the same conversations over and over again? Now you can pin your favorite chats to the top of the left navigation panel, making them easy to access whenever you need them.

🗂️ Meet Your Library

ChatGPT now stores your uploaded documents and images in a Library.

That means if you've previously uploaded a logo, headshot, or another image, you don't have to upload it every time you create something new.

Type the @ symbol in your prompt, begin typing the name of your file, and ChatGPT will pull it directly from your Library. It's a simple feature that can save you time, especially if you're working on ongoing projects. And that's just the beginning.

I'll be sharing more tips in the coming weeks, and you'll find these features, along with many others, inside ChatGPT for Brilliant Leaders. Stay tuned... August 31st will be here before we know it!

Until next week.

Regards,

Stacey D.M. Shaw
